Thomas Andreae

Thomas Andreae, PhD, joined the Foundation in May 2019 after a long track record in the medical technology industry. As a focused ultrasound ambassador in Europe, Thomas is promoting the clinical impact of focused ultrasound and the high potential it has in many clinical areas. He acts as a liaison between the Foundation and the European focused ultrasound community by identifying new opportunities for scientists, clinicians, patients, and industry. He fosters collaboration to advance clinical applications from experimental and clinical trials to clinical routine.

Before joining the Foundation, Thomas held the position of Marketing Director while working at Profound Medical, and at Philips Healthcare prior to that. During this time, he oversaw the development and market introduction of the Philips Sonalleve therapeutic ultrasound system. Over the years, Thomas has gained extensive experience in diagnostic imaging, image guided therapies, and minimally invasive therapies, as well as imaging in radiation oncology, high intensity focused ultrasound, and other ablation techniques. He has experience with applications in radiology, interventional radiology, interventional oncology, radiation oncology, urology, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and cardiology. Thomas received his PhD in physics from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1993.
