Magnus Sandberg is the current Portfolio Manager for Smart Manufacturing at the FOG Software Group. Prior to this, they were the Chief Executive Officer for Shoplogix from April 2017 to January 2021. Shoplogix is a leading provider of Smart Factory software platforms for manufacturers across the globe with offices and team members in 12 countries. The platform includes solutions such as real-time "Internet of Things" performance management software, Advanced Analytics, and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) solutions.
Shoplogix is part of the Smart Manufacturing Software Group of companies which is an autonomous operating group of FOG Software Group and Constellation Software Inc. (TSE:CSU). Prior to their work with Shoplogix, Magnus was with Amplify Capital (formerly MaRS Catalyst Fund) and SocialCapitalPartners. At SocialCapitalPartners, they were responsible for running all aspects of the organization as Managing Director from July 2009 to April 2017.
The organization is one of the most respected and influential catalysts in impact investing and innovation in Canada. While with SocialCapitalPartners, they made direct equity investments in private companies in different maturity stages, made debt co-investments with RBC, ran an innovation lab together with MaRS and Deloitte - leveraging unique P3 models, and developed and brought new financial impact products to market.
Sandberg's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Lulea, Sweden. Magnus also has a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the same school. Additionally, they completed an Executive Program in Integrative Thinking at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Magnus also did exchange programs for 6 months at the University of Vienna & Vienna University of Business and Technology in Austria, and for one year at the Y. David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah in the USA. Finally, they completed summer studies in France at Arts et Métiers ParisTech - École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers.
