Andreas Sandgren

Andreas Sandgren has extensive work experience in the field of public health, particularly in infectious disease prevention and control. Andreas has held various roles in different organizations, including the Folkhälsomyndigheten, where they are currently serving as the Head of Unit. Prior to this, they worked at ReAct - Action on Antibiotic Resistance, where they held the position of Director and Deputy Director. Andreas was also a Policy Advisor and Acting Head of ReAct Europe during their time there. Andreas has also worked as the Head of Unit and Expert at Uppsala University, focusing on the strategic development of ReAct Europe's work. Before that, they worked as a Senior Consultant at their own public health consultancy, providing scientific advice and technical support in international projects. Andreas also has experience working at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, where they were an Expert in Tuberculosis, providing scientific and technical advice on TB prevention and control. Early in their career, they worked as a Senior postdoctoral researcher at Karolinska Institutet and as a Research Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where they conducted research on the epidemiology and genomics of tuberculosis. Andreas also worked as a PhD researcher at the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control, focusing on Streptococci and pneumococcal epidemiological and immunological studies. Andreas holds a PhD in Infectious Disease Biology from Karolinska Institutet.

Andreas Sandgren obtained their PhD in Medicine, specializing in Infection Biology, from Karolinska Institutet between 2002 and 2005. Prior to that, they completed their MSc in Biomedicine from Uppsala University between 1998 and 2002.
