Winny de Jong

Winny de Jong is a data journalist with extensive experience in data-driven investigations, currently serving as Chef Dataredactie and Datajournalist at NRC since February 2022. De Jong is an Advisory Board Member at the Nationaal Archief, providing insights on digitization efforts, and is a preparatory committee member for the European Press Prize, responsible for selecting shortlists. As an adviser for the Fonds Bijzondere Journalistieke Projecten, de Jong supports funding decisions for in-depth journalistic projects. Additionally, since 2010, de Jong has operated Winny Media to share expertise in data journalism through education and a weekly newsletter. Previous roles include data journalist positions at NOS and OneWorld, along with committee membership at the Vereniging Online Journalisten Nederland and Vers in de Pers. De Jong holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Fontys Hogeschool Tilburg.
