Research Foundation Flanders - FWO
Jose Ignacio Alvira Larizgoitia is a PhD Fellow in Strategic Basic Research at Research Foundation Flanders - FWO, focusing on the development of multimodal deep neural networks for spatial multi-omics data fusion since November 2021. Previously, Jose was involved in the Laboratory of Multi-omics Integrative Bioinformatics at KU Leuven, where a master's thesis detailed work on deep autoencoder neural networks for single-cell RNA sequencing and multi-modal data representation. Early experience included a student internship at the Chemical Engineering Department at UPV/EHU, where various analyses, synthesis of nanomaterials, and machine learning model development were conducted, alongside a bachelor's thesis that achieved a predictive model for nephrolithiasis with 97% precision. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Bioinformatics from KU Leuven and a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea.
