Patrik Sallner has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and industries. Patrik started their career at Nokia Mobile Phones as a Manager in 1994 and later joined McKinsey & Company as an Engagement Manager and Associate, where they served for four years.
In 2003, Sallner joined Nokia again, this time in various leadership roles. Patrik was the Director of Insight & Foresight, where they led a team responsible for driving foresight activities and identifying new growth opportunities for the Nokia Group. Patrik also served as the Director of Hosting Line of Business and later as the Head of Hosting Service Line, where they integrated hosting units from Nokia and Siemens to create a global application hosting business. In their last role at Nokia, Sallner was the Head of Product and Solution Management, Business Support Systems, where they oversaw the management of business support systems.
Sallner then transitioned to F-Secure Corporation in 2010, where they held two positions. First, they were the Vice President, Head of Mobile and Storage BUs, and successfully turned around an acquired data storage startup in Bordeaux, achieving significant revenue growth and winning major deals. Later, they became the Vice President, Professional Services, where they built and managed a team responsible for delivering security and content cloud solutions to global telecommunications operators, enterprises, and consumers.
In 2012, Sallner joined MariaDB Corporation as the CEO. During their tenure, they transformed the startup into a global market leader by implementing a scalable product strategy and establishing strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as Red Hat, IBM, Microsoft, and Amazon. Patrik also acquired Monty Program and merged the businesses, rebranding the product as MariaDB.
From 2018 to 2019, Sallner served as a Member of the Board of Directors at Siili Solutions, gaining further experience in governance and strategic decision-making.
In 2015, Sallner joined OpusCapita as the CEO. Patrik led the transformation of the company from a government-owned subsidiary into a leading European provider of electronic transactions and source-to-pay software. Patrik divested non-core businesses, acquired and integrated two companies, and positioned the business for international growth. Patrik also led the privatization process in which Providence Strategic Growth acquired ownership of OpusCapita.
Sallner's most recent role is as the Chief Executive Officer of Fonecta Oy, a position they assumed in 2020.
Patrik Sallner's education history includes a Master's Degree in International/Global Studies from The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, which they obtained from 1997 to 1999. During the same period, they also pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Entrepreneurship and Finance from The Wharton School, also at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to that, from 1993 to 1997, they attended Sibelius-Akatemia - Sibelius-Akademin, although the specific degree and field of study are not mentioned. Earlier in their education, from 1990 to 1994, Patrik Sallner earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Technology Management from Aalto University. Lastly, they are currently pursuing a Certified Board Member from the Helsinki Chamber of Commerce, starting in 2022.
