Alok Rao

Alok Rao has a diverse range of work experience in software engineering. Alok currently holds the position of Senior Software Engineer at Fonoa, a role they began in May 2021. Prior to this, Alok worked as a Freelance Software Engineer at Toptal starting in April 2021.

Before their recent roles, Alok co-founded Blend - games inside chat in 2020 and served as the Chief Technology Officer. In this position, they worked on various aspects of the app, including architecting the app and its APIs, designing games, and setting up infrastructure. Alok also authored a binary protocol for messaging and created a turn-based game engine.

From 2013 to 2019, Alok worked at Fidelity Investments, where they held different positions. Alok started as a Graduate Trainee Engineer in August 2013 and later became an Associate Software Engineer, primarily developing an MQ backed application called APF. Alok then moved on to become a Software Engineer, contributing to the creation of a portfolio management app called Rudder and an Apple TV app called Nucleus. Alok later took on the role of Senior Software Developer and was responsible for designing and developing a composition framework called "Stitch" for web services and migrating the suite of apps to the cloud.

Alok's final position at Fidelity Investments was Lead Software Engineer, which they held from August 2018 to August 2019. During this time, they led the development in the Blockchain Incubator, evaluating different blockchain platforms and creating prototypes for private equity management on the blockchain.

Alok Rao attended Bangalore Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Computer Science. In the same month, they also completed the "Computer Networks" course at Coursera. In August 2013, Alok obtained certification in "Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1" from Coursera. Finally, in December 2014, they obtained certification in "Programming Languages" from Coursera.
