Stefano Giaccio

Stefano Giaccio is an accomplished Information Technology professional with a strong background in developing web-based applications and GIS tools. Currently serving as an Information Technology Officer at FAO since June 2011, Stefano has led the development of a web map GIS tool for REDD+ spatial data and has conducted deployment and capacity-building missions in five developing countries. Prior to this role, Stefano worked as an IT Consultant at the World Food Programme, where the design and implementation of the Africa RiskView software was achieved. Previous positions include developer roles at FAO and the World Food Programme, where key projects involved the Forestry Resource Assessment web GIS portal and field data collection software for vulnerability mapping. Stefano's early career included development work for various organizations, including WHO and Università degli Studi di Roma 'La Sapienza'. Educationally, Stefano holds an MSc in Physics from Sapienza Università di Roma.
