George Schutter

George Schutter has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various industries and roles. George has held leadership positions in both non-profit and government organizations. From 2023, they have served as the Chief Financial Officer at Food for the Hungry, where they are responsible for overseeing financial systems, grants and contracts management, and risk management. Prior to this, from 2015 to 2023, they worked as the Chief Procurement Officer and Director for the District of Columbia, managing a team of 240 employees and leading central contracting and logistics functions. At TechnoServe from 2011 to 2015, George served as the Chief Financial Officer, overseeing finance operations across 30+ developing countries. George played a key role in the organization's rapid growth, turning around consecutive losses into a surplus position and achieving significant revenue growth. Before that, from 2008 to 2011, they provided financial and management consulting solutions as an Executive Director at Grant Thornton LLP. George also has experience in the public sector, serving as the Chief Financial Officer of the Peace Corps from 2002 to 2008, where they oversaw resource management and financial operations on a global scale. George began their career as a Certified Public Accountant at William D. Trask CPA, PA and served as a Major and Director in the United States Marine Corps. Overall, George brings a wealth of experience and expertise in finance, procurement, and leadership roles to their current position at Food for the Hungry.

George Schutter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Illinois Institute of Technology. George also has a Masters of Science in Management, with a concentration in Acquisitions and Contract Management, from the Naval Postgraduate School. In addition, they have obtained several certifications including Chartered Global Management Accountant from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2012, Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) from the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) in 1998, and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1998.
