Lisa DeSmet has over 18 years of experience in quality assurance and regulatory roles in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Lisa is currently the VP of Quality & Regulatory at FoodScience, LLC, where they oversee manufacturing sites for both animal and human dietary supplement products. Prior to this, Lisa worked as the Director of Quality Assurance at Agri-Mark, Inc., providing leadership and guidance in food safety and QA for four manufacturing plants. Lisa also held key positions at Perrigo, serving as the Global Quality Systems Program Manager and the Manager of Quality Systems & Compliance. In these roles, they supported global change control systems and document management projects across multiple sites. Lisa's earlier experience includes roles at PBM Nutritionals LLC as an Asst. Manager Quality Engineer, a New Product/Project Manager, and Manager of Quality Metrics and Product Release. At Wyeth Nutrition, they were the SCI Manager, overseeing FDA consent decree remediation activities. Throughout their career, Lisa has demonstrated expertise in ensuring quality and regulatory compliance in various manufacturing environments.
Lisa DeSmet earned a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Michigan State University, which they obtained between the years 1985 and 1988. Lisa later completed their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the University of Vermont, from 1994 to 1997. In terms of certifications, Lisa obtained their Six Sigma Green Belt from the University of Michigan in January 2007. Lisa then achieved the certification of Certified Quality Engineer from ASQ in June 2008, followed by the certification of Certified Quality Auditor from ASQ in December 2009. Lastly, Lisa obtained the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Villanova University in September 2013.
