Ben Sutcliffe

National Fitness Coach at Football Association of Wales

Ben Sutcliffe is a seasoned sports scientist and fitness coach with extensive experience in elite football. Currently serving as the National Fitness Coach for the Football Association of Wales since October 2018, Ben provides fitness assessments and feedback for match officials and leads the sports science program for the Wales U17 Men’s team. Ben has previously held key roles such as First Team Sport Scientist at Shrewsbury Town FC and Sport Science Intern at Blackburn Rovers FC, focusing on individualized training programs, performance monitoring, and rehabilitation strategies. Ben’s early career includes officiating as a Level 4 Referee and completing a placement as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Liverpool FC. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Strength and Conditioning from Liverpool John Moores University and a Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Swansea University.
