Richard Burgess

Richard Burgess is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Senior Legal Counsel and General Manager - Integrity at Football Australia since August 2018, after holding various legal roles including Manager - Legal and Business Affairs and Legal Counsel. Additionally, Richard has been a Judicial Committee Member at NSW Rugby Union since April 2021. Prior experience includes working as a Solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills from February 2013 to August 2018, and as a Legal Secondee at AGL Energy and RES Australia in early 2018 and late 2017, respectively. Richard's career began with roles as a Graduate and Paralegal at Herbert Smith Freehills, accompanied by a Summer Clerk position in late 2011. Richard holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons)/Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in European Studies/Civilization from the University of Wollongong and a High School Certificate from Hurlstone Agricultural High School.
