Marco del Rey

Marco del Rey has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Marco worked as a Patent Examiner at the European Patent Office from February 2015 onwards, where they were responsible for patent search, examination, and classification. Marco also worked on patent opposition procedures.

Before that, Marco was a Co-founder at Foqum, starting in 2014. In this role, they managed the Technology team, provided technical support, and formulated operational infrastructure. Marco utilized predictive analytics and machine learning for business process optimization.

Marco pursued a PhD in Quantum Technologies at Universidad Complutense de Madrid from November 2009 to November 2014. During this time, they focused on research work in Quantum Science, supervised by Dr. Juan León García.

Prior to that, Marco worked as a Senior Connectivity Designer at Philips from September 2008 to October 2009. In this role, they were involved in hardware/software design and predevelopment of consumer electronics products. Marco also analyzed and assessed new technologies and contributed to roadmap elaboration. Additionally, they handled project management responsibilities.

Marco gained valuable experience as an Artificial Intelligence YGT in the Advanced Concepts Team at the European Space Agency from July 2007 to June 2008. Marco conducted research on emerging technologies and their application in Space Science. Marco also developed and supported the ACT's distributed computing system, DiGMO and PaGMO, and provided IT and Space Systems Consultancy.

In 2005, Marco worked as a Software Programmer at CIDA (Navy Research Labs), where they developed speech processing software using artificial intelligence classifiers. Marco also explored new human-machine interaction interfaces through speech control.

Marco started their career as a Summer student at CERN in 2006, participating in summer lectures and gaining experience in database management using SQL and VBA.

Marco del Rey completed their education with a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2014. Before that, they also received an MSc. + BSc in Fundamental Physics from the same university, which they completed in 2010. Additionally, they pursued a MSc. + BSc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid between 2000 and 2006.

Furthermore, Marco del Rey attained a BA in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D. during the period from 2010 to 2013.

Apart from their formal education, Marco del Rey has obtained several certifications, including "Learning Regular Expressions" from LinkedIn in July 2021, "EQE Paper D" from the European Patent Office in June 2021, "Computing for Data Analysis" from Coursera in February 2014, and "Machine Learning" from Coursera in December 2013.
