Matt Godlewski

VP, Government Relations at Ford

Matthew Godlewski is Vice President, U.S. Government Relations. In this role, Godlewski is part of Ford’s global government relations leadership and has responsibility for shaping policy and legislation across the 50 states. His team engages with policymakers nationwide on a range of automotive, mobility and community issues, including negotiated investment and job creation incentives in the company’s plant states. In addition, Godlewski serves on Ford’s North American Operating Committee.

Godlewski joined Ford in 2017 and until his recent appointment in 2020, served as Director, Government and Stakeholder Relations. Prior to that time, he was president of NGVAmerica, a national trade association dedicated to the development of a growing and sustainable U.S. market for heavy duty vehicles powered by natural gas.

From 2007 to 2014, Godlewski served as Vice President of State Affairs at the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, where he led a team of regional managers and 50 state consultants to manage auto policy issues on behalf of the world’s largest automakers.

From 2002 to 2006, Godlewski was Director of State and Federal Policy at Pernod Ricard USA, a division of the Paris, France based Pernod Ricard spirits and wine company, where he built relationships in Washington, DC on tax, market access and responsibility issues. Prior to that, he managed state and federal alcohol, beverage and entertainment policy matters at Seagram/Universal Studios/Tropicana Products from 1998 to 2002.

A graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, Godlewski holds a bachelor's degree in American Public Affairs.
