John W. Buckley

Vice President for Enrollment at Fordham University

John W. Buckley most recently served as the associate vice president for undergraduate enrollment at Fordham. In this role, he managed a team of 36 full- and part-time employees in the recruitment and selection process for the undergraduate students and chaired the Graduate and Adult Admission Council at the University. The undergraduate recruitment effort includes an extensive direct marketing campaign, hundreds of secondary school visitations across the country and around the world, campus-based and regional event programming, and the evaluation of more than 45,000 candidates annually. His work also involved extensive interaction with alumni, donors, and offices across the University.

Buckley has spent his entire career in higher education in the enrollment division at Fordham. He joined the University in 1984 and was appointed as director of undergraduate admission in 1992, later assuming his role as an AVP. He has served on the executive board of the National Catholic College Admission Association, including as president for a year, and he has also been active in the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling, which recognized him as College Counselor of the Year in 2002 for exceptional service to the profession. Buckley was selected for the faculty of the Summer Institute, which trains junior members of the profession.

He is a 1984 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, where he majored in economics, and a 1989 alumnus of the Fordham Graduate School of Education, where he earned a master’s degree in personnel and counseling.
