Daniel dos Santos has a diverse background in security research, academia, and software engineering. Daniel is currently the Head of Security Research at Forescout Technologies Inc. since September 2018. In addition to their role at Forescout, Daniel is a Board Member at ETHOS | Emerging Threat Open Sharing since March 2023, where they contribute to the cooperative development of the OT security industry. Daniel is also a Member of EE-ISAC since 2019, further demonstrating their involvement in the security community. Previously, Daniel held positions as a Researcher (Postdoc) at Eindhoven University of Technology from April 2017 to August 2018 and as a Researcher (PhD candidate) at Fondazione Bruno Kessler - FBK from September 2013 to March 2017. Daniel started their career as a Penetration Tester at SEC+ from October 2012 to August 2013 and prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer (C++ Developer) at AltoQi Tecnologia em Informática from October 2011 to April 2012. Overall, Daniel possesses extensive knowledge and experience in the field of security research and has made significant contributions to both academia and industry.
Daniel dos Santos received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Information and Communication Technology from Università di Trento, which they pursued from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Master's degree in Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina from 2011 to 2013. Daniel began their educational journey by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the same institution, which they completed from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, Daniel has obtained certifications such as Certified Incident Handler (ECIH) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council, as well as VDOO Certified Security Engineer certification from VDOO.
