Alex Blocker has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. In 2007, Alex worked as a Summer Analyst in Fixed Income Research at UBS Investment Bank. Then, in 2008, Alex joined Weiss Asset Management as a part-time Quantitative Analyst.

During the same year, Alex started working at Harvard University as a Researcher in the Department of Statistics, where they focused on various projects such as preprocessing theory, computational algorithms, event detection, and Bayesian approaches. Alex also served as a Teaching Assistant for the Department of Statistics at Harvard University.

In 2013, Alex moved to Verily Life Sciences (formerly Google Life Sciences) as a Statistician and later transitioned to the role of TL & Senior Scientist, Computational Biology.

Following their time at Verily, Alex joined GRAIL, Inc. as a Staff Data Scientist in 2016.

In 2018, Alex became the Head of Data Science at Foresite Capital, which was followed by a role as a Strategic Advisor at Sestina Bio, LLC. in 2020.

In 2021, Alex worked as an Interim Chief Data Officer at TenSixteen Bio before transitioning to the role of Strategic Advisor in 2022. Additionally, in the same year, Alex became the CTO and Chief Data Scientist at Foresite Labs.

Throughout their career, Alex has accumulated extensive experience in data science, computational biology, and statistical analysis, among other areas.

Alex Blocker completed their education in the following order:

From 2004 to 2008, they attended Boston University and earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a major in Economics & Math.

Following that, from 2006 to 2008, they continued their education at Boston University and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Economics.

Seeking further education, Alex joined Harvard University in 2009. From 2009 to 2011, they pursued a Master of Arts (AM) degree in Statistics.

Finally, between 2009 and 2013, Alex completed their education at Harvard University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Statistics.
