John Watson, PE, CFM, NGICP, currently serves as the Senior Civil Engineer of Water Resources at the Forest Preserves of Cook County, having begun this role in January 2023. Watson has extensive experience in civil engineering, particularly in stormwater management and green infrastructure, with previous positions including Associate and Assistant Civil Engineer at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. In addition to professional roles, Watson actively volunteers as an engineer for international water supply projects through Uptown Baptist Church, overseeing initiatives in developing countries such as Tanzania and Zambia. Watson holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Hydrology & Hydraulic Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering.
