Cody Backus

Cody Backus serves as the Region Real Estate Counsel at Forestar Group Inc. since January 2022, providing legal expertise in real estate matters. Prior to this, Cody was the Managing Attorney at Backus, Dawson & Smith, PC, focusing on real estate, business, tax, and estate planning for entrepreneurs and business owners from August 2019 to January 2022. Cody's experience includes serving as an Attorney at Breglio Law Office, where more than 350 business entities were formed with an emphasis on asset protection and tax planning, and as the Director of Real Estate Development & Legal Counsel at S.K. Hart Management, overseeing a $200M commercial real estate portfolio. Earlier roles include law clerk positions and experience as a Commercial Real Estate Broker and Asset Manager, with a foundational background as a co-founder of Kiss Your Glass, Inc. Cody holds a Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Phoenix.
