John Paul Strachan serves as the Director of the Peter Grünberg Institute (PGI-14) for Neuromorphic Computing at Forschungszentrum Jülich and a Professor at RWTH Aachen University since July 2021. Prior to these roles, John Paul Strachan was a Distinguished Technologist and Emerging Accelerators Team Leader at Hewlett Packard Enterprise from 2015 to July 2021, where responsibilities included leading initiatives in next-generation computing technologies for AI. John Paul Strachan has also held positions as Principal Investigator and Senior Research Scientist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, focusing on analog in-memory computing projects, and as a Research Scientist and Post-doctoral Researcher at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, specializing in memristor technologies. Early research experience includes working as a Research Assistant at Stanford University and the MIT Media Lab, and an internship at IBM Almaden Research Center. Educational background includes a PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford University and degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
