James Hewer

James Hewer is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in the automotive and motorsport industries. Currently serving as the Head of Chassis and Principal Engineer - Chassis at Gordon Murray Design since May 2021, James oversees the delivery of suspension, steering, and braking systems for various projects. Prior to this role, James held positions at McLaren Racing, where responsibilities included delivering primary structures within the monocoque group, and at Sauber Group and Williams Racing, focusing on crash structures and management of design projects, respectively. James began the professional career at Triple Eight Race Engineering, delivering primary structure and vehicle dynamics models. James holds a 2:1 degree in Motorsport Engineering & Design from Swansea Metropolitan University, earned between 2000 and 2004.
