Angela Mckenzie

Director, Occupational Health Safety & Environmental (OHSE) at Fort Mckay First Nation

Angela McKenzie is a member of the Fort McKay First Nation band, born and raised, and has started with the Fort McKay First Nation in 2012 as the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager. She introduced workplace health and safety to the Fort McKay First Nation and introduced an OHS system that has met industry standards and is COR approved, including new hire orientation, HSE daily summary reports, incident reporting matrix, disability management, supervisor and employee training job-specific training. Angela holds an HSA and NCSO designation with the Alberta Construction Safety Association, which was obtained in 2011 while working at Atco Structures and Logistics. Angela then moved to the Fort McKay Group of Companies, where she was employed as an HSE Advisor, specifically; in the mining industry at Syncrude and Shell with Muskeg Mountain, trucking and fuel handling with Muskeg Distributors, deliveries with logistics, as well as the industrial park. While employed with Fort McKay First Nation, Angela completed her OHS Certificate, Completed various training with Worker’s Compensation board which includes ergonomics. Angela also holds a membership with the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers (CSSE) – Fort McMurray chapter, Women in Occupational Health and safety society as well as attends committee meetings with the Wood Buffalo safety Committee.
