Julie Novak is an accomplished financial professional with extensive experience in the education sector. Currently serving as Chief Financial Officer at Fort Sam Houston ISD since July 2010, Novak has previously held key positions including Director of Budget and Planning at San Antonio ISD and Assistant Superintendent of Business & Operations at Poteet ISD. With a background that includes serving as Accounting Manager at Harlandale ISD, Novak brings a wealth of knowledge in financial management and strategic planning. Academically, Novak holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas Tech University and a Master of Science in Management with a School Business emphasis from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

FSHISD educates the children of active military personnel. The district is coterminous with the Army installation Fort Sam Houston, meaning it has the same boundaries as the installation. We are diligent in our efforts to maintain a strong partnership with the Installation for the sake of our military-connected children. The District is comprised of three campuses – Fort Sam Houston Elementary, grades PK-5, Robert G. Cole Middle School, grades 6-8, and Robert G. Cole High School, grades 9-12. The student enrollment is approximately 1300. FSHISD has a history and tradition of educational excellence. The District is proud of its achievements, having earned high ratings in the Texas Public School Accountability System and met all state compliance requirements. Additionally, the schools have met the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) federal requirement established by the 2001 No Child Left Behind (NCLB). For AYP, campuses and their student subgroups were required to meet targets of achievement, assessment, attendance, and graduation rates.
