Mark D. Daniel

Superintendent at Fort Wayne Community Schools

Mark D. Daniel has been the superintendent of Fort Wayne Community Schools since 2020. Prior to that, they served as superintendent of McLean County Unit 5 School District from 2014 to 2020.

Under Daniel's leadership, the Unit 5 School District entered into a partnership with Ivy Tech Community College to enable high school students to graduate with associate degrees in high-demand career fields. Mark also implemented career counselors in each high school to coordinate college and career readiness with community businesses and organizations.

In support of their work on career pathways, Daniel developed and implemented unique instructional opportunities such as blended learning, virtual learning, and project-based learning. These opportunities promote student experiential learning.

Daniel assisted in the development of the district's strategic plan, which features five pillars. Mark used the Disney storyboarding process to gather input from stakeholders during a "listening tour." This work was featured in the most recent edition of The Disney Way (pgs.199-200).

Mark D. Daniel started their educational career by obtaining a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Toledo. Mark then went on to obtain a Master of Education from Indiana University Fort Wayne. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from Indiana State University in Educational Leadership and Administration.
