Senior Metallurgist at Fortescue Metals

Thomas Taylor is a seasoned metallurgist with extensive experience in operational readiness and commissioning within the mineral processing industry. Currently serving as a Senior Metallurgist at Fortescue since September 2022, Thomas is focused on the Iron Bridge magnetite ore processing and concentrate handling facilities. Prior roles include Plant Metallurgist at both Fortescue and Newcrest Mining Limited, where responsibilities encompassed optimizing flotation and Carbon In Leach circuits at the Telfer gold mine. Thomas has a strong foundation in metallurgy developed through a graduate program at Newcrest, as well as previous positions as a Metallurgical Technician at the University of Queensland's Pyrometallurgy Innovation Centre and IHC Robbins Pty Ltd, where laboratory techniques were applied to heavy mineral sands. Thomas holds a dual Bachelor of Engineering and Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Queensland.
