Nick Bagshaw has a long and varied work experience. Nick began their career in 1999 as a Research Assistant at The University of Sheffield, contracted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to develop additional criteria to be incorporated into the British Standards, BS 7910, and to assist in the design and assessment of pressurized structures. In 2001, they began working as a Research Engineer at Rautaruukki Steel Group, Finland on a European project, PRESS (prediction of structured behavior on the basis of small-scale specimen testing). Nick then joined TWI as a Principal Project Leader of the Electron Beam (EB) processing section, performing process reviews (EB, Laser, MIG/TIG, Friction etc.) and managing feasibility, process development or qualification projects (including NDT inspection and mechanical testing) for a range of joint thickness (1/16in to 8in) in many materials. Nick also worked as a Senior Project Leader of the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) section, solving many different types of engineering problems such as fatigue, structural, surface interaction, buckling, dynamic, heat transfer analyses. In 2018, they joined Relativity Space as a Manager/Principal Additive Simulation Engineer, then as a Principal Additive Simulation Engineer, and finally as a Senior Simulation Engineer. Nick is currently employed as the Chief Technology Officer at Fortius Metals Inc since 2022.
Nick Bagshaw has a long history of education. Nick obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from The University of Sheffield in 1995, followed by a Master of Science (MS) in Structural Integrity in 1996. Nick then completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at The University of Sheffield in 2000. In 2012, they returned to The University of Sheffield to obtain a Master of Science (MS) in Advanced Metallurgy.
