Technology Lead, Waste-to-material at Fortum

Shital Das has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Currently, Shital is working at Fortum as a Technology Lead for their Circular Solution Business. In this role, Shital designed and implemented an organizational structure and processes for building a high-performing team. Additionally, Shital is responsible for building capabilities by recruiting and developing key talents, as well as managing technology and innovation portfolio management.

Prior to Fortum, Shital worked at Borealis for over a decade, starting as a Lead Research Engineer and progressing to become a Senior Product Owner. Before joining Borealis, Shital worked at Tohoku University as a Researcher and was involved in developing and maintaining collaborative innovation networks. Additionally, Shital gained experience in adapting to diverse and multicultural environments.

Shital's work experience also includes a role as Assistant Manager at Ballarpur Industries Limited, where Shital led a multidisciplinary R&D team and managed day-to-day laboratory operations in the paper coating division.

Shital Das has a diverse education history. Shital completed their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calcutta between 1999 and 2002. Shital then pursued a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the same university from 2002 to 2004.

In 2007, Shital began their doctoral studies at DTU - Technical University of Denmark, specializing in Chemical Engineering with a focus on Power-to-X Technology, CCUS, Hydrogen, and Renewable Energy. Shital successfully obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 2011.

To enhance their knowledge and skills in business administration and management, Shital completed a mini MBA program at Probana Business School in 2016.

In 2017, they attended IMD and received a certificate in Sustainability, Circular Economy, Strategy, and Sustainability Business Model.

In addition to their formal degrees, Shital also holds several certifications. Shital completed PM Competence I and II from pmcc consulting GmbH in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Shital also obtained certifications in Managerial Accounting Fundamentals and Financial Accounting Fundamentals from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in 2019. Moreover, they received the Certified Product Manager (CPM) certification from Sequent Learning Networks in 2020, and they plan to obtain the Corporate Finance Fundamentals certification from Corporate Finance Institute in 2023.
