Rokhaya Kane is a graduate research assistant at the UNC Institute for Global Health & Infectious Diseases, conducting qualitative research on imported malaria cases in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Concurrently, Rokhaya serves in a similar role at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, focusing on gender-based violence among HIV-positive women in South Africa. As Vice President of Communications at the Foundation for a Healthier Senegal, Rokhaya develops health communication materials addressing maternal health challenges in rural Senegal. Previous experiences include supporting neurodiverse individuals at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and promoting student health initiatives at UMBC Student Government Association. Rokhaya holds a Master of Public Health from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biological Sciences and Public Health from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
