Peter Ames is an accomplished public health professional with extensive experience in leadership and advocacy. Currently serving as the Executive Director at the Foundation for Healthy Communities since August 2017, Peter previously held multiple key roles at the American Cancer Society from August 2005 to June 2017, including Senior Director of State Health Systems, Vice President of Health Initiatives, and Director of Government Relations and Advocacy, where skills in lobbying were utilized. Peter's educational background includes a Master of Public Health in Public Health Education and Promotion from The George Washington University (2002-2004) and a Bachelor of Science in Health Management and Policy from the University of New Hampshire (1998-2001).

Foundation for Healthy Communities
The Foundation's mission is to improve health and health care delivery. The Foundation for Healthy Communities is a partnership involving hospitals, physicians, health plans, home care agencies and other organizations concerned about improving health in New Hampshire. The Foundation's primary objectives are: 1. To collect, analyze, and evaluate data about health and about the delivery, quality, management and organization of health services; 2. To promote, sponsor and conduct applied research and scientific investigation relative to quality, health delivery process and improvement and health policy; and 3. To communicate information, sponsor education and training, and facilitate innovation and access for the improvement of health and the creation of healthy communities.
