Sylvain Pasini

Sylvain Pasini has a long and varied work experience in the field of information security and computer security. Sylvain began their career in 2004 as a Teaching Assistant at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne), where they were involved in teaching courses related to cryptography and security, as well as network administration and webmaster duties. In 2005, they became a Research and Teaching Assistant at the Security and Cryptography Laboratory (LASEC). In 2009, they joined Nagravision as a Cryptography Expert and Security Architect.

In 2011, they began working at HEIG-VD (University of Applied Sciences - Western Switzerland) as a Professor in information security and computer security. During their time there, they led the information security team and the Y-Security competence center, and was involved in several research and development projects with partners from the industry and academy. Sylvain also taught courses on Introduction à la Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information (ISI) and Sécurité Logicielle (SLO).

In 2017, they joined the Steering Committee of the Black Alps event, and in 2018 they joined the FIT Digital selection committee and the Y-START incubator expert panel. Sylvain was also a Steering Committee Member for the CyberSec Conference (formerly the Application Security Forum - Western Switzerland) from 2015-2018, and was involved in the steering committee for the Application Security Forum from 2012-2014.

Sylvain Pasini began their education in 1995, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics from the Engineering School of Geneva (EIG) in 2001. Sylvain then pursued a Master's Degree in Communication Systems from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2002-2005. Finally, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cryptography from EPFL in 2009.
