Garrett Frampton

Vice President, Computational Discovery (formerly Cancer Genomics Research) at Foundation Medicine

Garrett Frampton has extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and genomics research. Garrett currently holds the position of Vice President, Computational Discovery at Foundation Medicine since July 2021. Prior to this role, they worked as the Senior Director, Cancer Genomics Research at Foundation Medicine from August 2018 to June 2021. Garrett has also held various other positions at Foundation Medicine, including Director, Associate Director, and Senior Scientist, all in the field of bioinformatics and cancer genomics research.

Before joining Foundation Medicine, Frampton worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at Whitehead Institute from December 2010 to March 2011. During their time at Whitehead Institute, they developed a python software suite for analyzing high-throughput sequence data and led computational teams for research projects, resulting in the publication of multiple manuscripts.

Frampton's academic career includes being a Graduate Student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from September 2004 to December 2010. Garrett completed their doctoral research during this time. Prior to that, they worked as a Bioinformatic Analyst at Boston University School of Medicine from August 2002 to October 2004, where they performed bioinformatic analysis and collaborated on publishing research manuscripts. Garrett also worked as a Laboratory Research Assistant at Boston University School of Medicine from August 2001 to July 2002.

Frampton's early career started at the University of Chicago Hospitals, Clinical Neuroscience and Psychopharmacology Research Unit, where they worked as a Data Manager from February 1999 to July 2001. In this role, they managed data for clinical drug trials and conducted academic research, created an electronic database for paper records, and performed statistical analysis using various software. Garrett also gained experience as a Senior Pharmacy Technician at Harvard Community Health Plan from February 1996 to June 1999.

Overall, Frampton has a strong background in bioinformatics and genomics research, with experience in leadership roles, project management, software development, and data analysis.

Garrett Frampton earned a PhD in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from 2004 to 2010. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor's Degree in B.S. Biological Chemistry and B.S. Biology with Honors from the University of Chicago, completing their studies from 1997 to 2001. Garrett completed their high school education at Newton South High School from 1993 to 1997.
