Varun Pattani

Varun Pattani is a seasoned professional in the biomedical engineering and regulatory affairs sectors, currently serving as Sr. Director and Head of Diagnostic Development at Foundation Medicine since December 2017. In this role, Varun leads the development and implementation of a global companion diagnostic strategy, overseeing functions including clinical biomarkers and project leadership for biomarker product launches. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Regulatory Affairs, where Varun managed regulatory approvals for in vitro CDx devices and collaborated with biopharmaceutical partners on regulatory filings. Previous roles at the FDA involved leading reviews of various pre-market submissions and providing regulatory guidance. Varun’s academic background includes a PhD and Master's in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, along with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University.
