Jim started their career in 2007 as a Group Leader at Target before moving on to work as the Regional Director of Sales at Security National Life Insurance Company in 2010. In 2012, Jim became the Owner/Funeral Director at Simplicity Cremation & Burial Services, where they worked for seven years. In 2019, they joined Foundation Partners Group as the Value Brand Director.

Jim Dobbins attended Hope College from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. Following that, from 1997 to 1998, they attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science to study mortuary.
