Amy Capella Smith has over 20 years of work experience in various roles within the behavioral health and arts therapy fields. Amy started their career as a Music Therapist at The Philadelphia Protestant Home and the Academy of Community Music. Amy then worked as a Psychotherapist at the Belmont Comprehensive Treatment Center at PCHD. Amy joined the Kardon Institute for Arts Therapy as an Executive Director, where they partnered with community organizations to increase service delivery and revenue. Amy later became the Director of Utilization Management at Foundations Behavioral Health, where they implemented care management strategies and improved revenue cycles. Amy's leadership skills led their to become Assistant Hospital Administrator and then Interim Chief Executive Officer at Foundations Behavioral Health. In their current role as Chief Executive Officer, they oversee the daily operations of the behavioral health system. Prior to their current position, Amy worked at Community Behavioral Health as a Clinical Management Coordinator, Clinical Management Supervisor, Operations Specialist, and Clinical Care Manager. In these roles, they directed teams, improved treatment outcomes, and promoted integrated care for clients with co-occurring behavioral and physical health issues. Amy's extensive experience in executive leadership and clinical management showcases their expertise in the fields of behavioral health and arts therapy.
Amy Capella Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Therapy from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1997. Amy then obtained a Master of Arts degree in Creative Arts in Therapy from Drexel University in 2001. Amy attended Philadelphia High School for Girls from 1989 to 1993. Additionally, they have additional certifications as a Licensed Professional Counselor from the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors in 2004 and as a Music Therapist- Board Certified from the Certification Board for Music Therapists in 1998.
