Tyler Tong McDermott has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Tyler currently works at CIBC in the Underwriting - Innovation Banking role, providing tailored financing solutions and banking services to innovative SaaS companies. Tyler was previously a Program Director at FoundersBoost, where they led the Toronto Cohort and guided early-stage entrepreneurs through a 7-week program. Tyler also worked at Clearco, the largest capital provider for eCommerce businesses, providing account management solutions. Prior to that, they were a Broker at iCapital, providing financial advisors access to the alternative investment marketplace. Tyler's experience also includes working as a KYC Relationship Analyst at RBC Capital Markets, conducting client due diligence and facilitating KYC reviews for institutional clients. Tyler also owned and operated Tyler's Swimming School, managing a private swim school with 20 clients. Additionally, Tyler worked as a Presidential Fellow and International Fellow at the Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress, and as a Strategy Consultant and In-House Researcher at Cycurity, conducting market research and providing advice on relevant projects.

Tyler Tong McDermott completed their education with a focus on Peace, Conflict and Justice. From 2015 to 2019, they attended the University of Toronto - Victoria University, where they earned an Honors Bachelor's of Arts degree in their field of interest. During their time at the university, they also conducted undergraduate research for their thesis at the University of Toronto - Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy from 2018 to 2019. In 2017, they participated in a summer abroad program at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, studying coexistence in the Middle East. Additionally, Tyler has obtained several certifications, including "Building A Financial Model" from The Marquee Group in May 2022, "Series 7 and Series 63" from FINRA in November 2020, "SIE" from FINRA in October 2020, and the "Canadian Securities Course (CSC)" from the Canadian Securities Institute in August 2020.
