Edwin Montoya is a Senior Software Engineer at Fracttal since 2021. Prior to that, they were a Data Architect at Globant from 2020 to 2021, where they solved the data scientist and data engineers' problem of having access to all data and collaborated by giving them a unified data platform that respected modern data science workflows. Edwin also designed and implemented the data sources, transformations and integrations to enable the decoupling of the valorization process from the ERP. Edwin was a Big Data Consultant in 2020 and a Graduate Research Assistant at Grand Valley State University from 2019 to 2020, where they created an AI and Big Data environment for the CIS department and use cases for students to learn distributed (Nvidia's Rapids. ai, Dask, Spark). Edwin was an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and Assistant IT Manager Academic Data Center at Universidad EAFIT from 2015 to 2018, where their duties included setting up VM for students, setting Hortonworks and Cloudera cluster for research groups, and setting up Machine Learning environments (Cuda and Jupyter) for students and researchers. Edwin was also a Software Engineer at Bancolombia from 2018 to 2019, where they contributed to the process of migrating legacy applications to cloud and designing new cloud-native products, reducing bugs and increasing the availability of the services, and guiding developer teams to use git, container, microservices, CI/CD, etc.

Edwin Montoya earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Computer Science from Universidad EAFIT between 2015 and 2019. Edwin then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) in Data Science & Analytics at Grand Valley State University, which they completed in 2021.
