Beth Casavant graduated from Skidmore College in 1994 with a degree in Elementary Education and American Studies, and earned a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Framingham State College in 2000. Beth began her teaching career in her hometown of Torrington, Connecticut, teaching 4th grade in her former elementary school. Over her 9 years as an educator, Beth also taught in South Florida and Maynard, Massachusetts before leaving the classroom to raise a family.
Since moving to Shrewsbury in 2008, Beth has been an active community and school volunteer. Beth served as the Co-President of the Parker Road Preschool for 2 years, the President of the Spring Street PTO for 4 years and is now the PTO President for Oak Middle School. Beth is an elected Town Meeting Member, served as a Trustee of the Shrewsbury Public Library and is currently in her first term on the Shrewsbury Board of Selectman.
Beth has been involved in a number of town-wide initiatives, serving as a member of the campaign committee to renovate and expand the Shrewsbury Public Library, serving as the campaign manager for Community Supporters for Shrewsbury, the successful ballot initiative for a proposition 2 ½ override, and as a campaign strategist for Community Supporters for Beal, the successful campaign committee for a debt exclusion for a new elementary school. She is also a board member of the Shrewsbury Rotary Club.
For the past 4 years Beth has served as the Tournament Director for the Hannah Kane Charity Classic, helping to raise money for three local charities: Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, St. Anne’s Human Services and Westborough Food Pantry.
Beth and her husband Scott have 2 children, Julia and Emma. Julia attends Assabet Valley Vocational Technical High School and Emma attends Shrewsbury Public Schools.
