Eric Schmidt

Eric Schmidt, GISP, serves as the GIS Manager for Franklin County, Virginia, since August 2018, overseeing the development of geospatial technologies for the county. In addition, Schmidt is the Managing Partner at EMgis Partners LLC, providing part-time contract GIS services since October 2015. Prior experience includes serving as GIS Supervisor for Douglas County, Nevada, from April 2010 to June 2018, where Schmidt managed GIS needs for multiple jurisdictions through a quad-county alliance. As Director of Technology at SiteTech Systems from April 2002 to May 2009, Schmidt integrated emerging online GIS technologies with Big Data to create a subscription service for the real estate industry. Earlier roles include GIS Analyst at Sky Aviation LLC and Departmental Supervisor at the University of Tennessee's Cartographic Information Center. Schmidt holds an MA in Geography from Appalachian State University and a BA in Theater and Geography from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
