Michelle Lam has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 1991, they worked as an Intellectual Property Paralegal at Cartwright, Slobodin, et al., where they reviewed and interpreted various legal documents. From 1995 to 1997, they served as an Employment Law Paralegal at Livingston & Weiss, managing the office and advising clients on employment laws and procedures. In the same period, they also worked as a Document Analyst at Fastrack Litigation Support, analyzing and organizing legal documents for court. Lam then joined Pacific Telesis (SBC Communications) in 1999 as a Payroll Analyst Contractor, co-managing payroll processing and resolving issues for the company. From 2000 to 2002, they acted as an HR Representative at Franz Inc., taking on the HR Director's responsibilities during their medical leave. During their time at Franz Inc., they also created an HR section on the internal website to streamline HR inquiries. Lam continued to advance in their HR career and became an HR Representative III from 2002 to 2004, responsible for resolving employee issues, developing HR policies, and leading recruiting efforts. Michelle then transitioned into the role of Benefits Manager from 2004 to 2005, successfully reducing insurance premiums and managing employee benefits. Finally, Lam became the HR Manager at Franz Inc. in 2006, overseeing the HR department, ensuring legal compliance, and managing HR operations during periods of both growth and decline.
Michelle Lam, PHR, SHRM-CP, holds a Certificate in Paralegal from Saint Mary's College. Michelle also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to their academic achievements, they have earned the Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) certification from the HR Certification Institute in December 2002 and the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM in March 2015.
