Monique Garcia Rizer has extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. Monique currently serves as Vice President at Freedman Consulting, LLC, where they advise clients in areas such as philanthropy, politics, public policy, nonprofits, journalism, and communications. Prior to this, they were the Executive Director of Urban Alliance in DC from 2018 to 2021.
From 2015 to 2017, Monique was the Executive Director of Opportunity Nation, a national campaign focused on closing the opportunity gap in America. Monique led a coalition of nonprofits, community colleges, and businesses advocating for evidence-based policies and practices.
Before that, they served as the Chief of Staff at Opportunity Nation, managing internal communications and coordinating the efforts of a 30+ staff member organization.
Monique's experience also includes working as the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing at Child Care Aware of America, leading a team responsible for ensuring access to quality and affordable child care. Monique has also worked with the Military Officers Association of America as Deputy Director of Spouse Programs, Marketing, and Contract Services, where they created national career conferences.
Additionally, Monique has experience as a freelance writer and editor, working with various magazines and nonprofit organizations. Monique started their career as a Development Associate at the National Military Family Association and as a Marketing Assistant at LeMaster & Daniels PLLC.
Monique Garcia Rizer holds a Master's degree in Information Management from Syracuse University and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Gonzaga University. Monique has also obtained certifications in Persuasive Coaching from LinkedIn in January 2020 and as a Dependable Strengths Workshop Instructor from the Center for Dependable Strengths in March 2011.
