Simon Alger

Simon Alger has a diverse work experience. Simon started their career as a Researcher at Freeplay Energy Ltd in 2008. From 2010 to 2010, they worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Heat Pump International, gaining experience in the production of large-scale HVAC units. In 2016, they joined Kantar as a Data Scientist, where they developed software tools for the acquisition and analysis of large-scale social media data. Simon then transitioned to Freeletics in 2017 and held various roles, including Data Scientist, Senior Data Scientist, Team Lead: Data Science, and currently serves as the Head of Data Science.

Simon Alger received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, where they studied from 2009 to 2012. Simon then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computational Science at the University of Amsterdam from 2013 to 2015. In addition to their academic qualifications, Simon obtained additional certifications in Advanced Machine Learning and Signal Processing from IBM in 2021, Nutrition, Exercise, and Sports from Wageningen University & Research in 2019, and B1 German proficiency from telc GmbH - The European Language Certificates in 2018.
