Anindita Dutta

Anindita Dutta has a diverse work experience in the field of machine learning, deep learning, and bioinformatics. Anindita currently holds the role of Director of Machine Learning at Freenome since September 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Illumina for a period of seven years, starting as a Senior Software Engineer and advancing to the positions of Staff Software Engineer, Principal Engineer, and Associate Director of R&D in Deep Learning/AI.

Additionally, Anindita also has experience as a Bioinformatician and R&D Software Engineer at Agilent Technologies from 2013 to 2016.

Before entering the industry, they pursued a Ph.D. in Computational Biology as a candidate of the Joint Carnegie Mellon - Univ. of Pittsburgh Program. During this time, they focused on various research projects involving the application of machine learning approaches, evolutionary analysis, and software development.

Anindita began their career with internships at Infinera and the Indian Institute of Science.

Anindita Dutta earned a Bachelor of Engg degree in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, from 2003 to 2008. Anindita also obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from the same institution during that time. From 2008 to 2013, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biomathematics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology through the Joint CMU - Pitt Program in Computational Biology at the University of Pittsburgh.
