Derek Hibbs

Derek Hibbs has a diverse work experience in the scientific and laboratory field. Derek is currently working as a Technical Lead - Scientific Operations at Freenome since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Sema4 from July 2017 to January 2023 in roles such as Manager, Test Automation and Implementation and Supervisor - NGS, where they managed daily operations and supervised a team of 10 people for high throughput clinical NGS library prep and sequencing. Before that, they worked as a Laboratory Coordinator at Mount Sinai Health System from January 2015 to June 2017. Derek also has experience as an Illumina Sequencing Technician at the University of Michigan from October 2013 to November 2014, as a Laboratory Research Assistant at Michigan State University from September 2012 to August 2013, and as an Undergraduate Lab Assistant at the University of Michigan in June 2012. Derek started their professional career as a Lab Assistant at U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in May 2011.

Derek Hibbs completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Genomics and Molecular Genetics from Michigan State University in the period from 2009 to 2013. In addition, they obtained a certification called "Crash Course on Python" from Coursera, with the year of completion being 2022.
