VP Underground Planning at Freeport-McMoRan

Ian Edgar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in underground mining operations and engineering. Currently serving as the VP of Underground Planning at Freeport-McMoRan since January 2016, Ian is responsible for medium and long-range planning and design for various underground mining operations in Indonesia, including strategic evaluations for expansions. Previous roles at Freeport-McMoRan include Vice President of Oreflow and Fixed Plant and Vice President of Engineering, overseeing the operation and maintenance of mining systems and leading engineering teams for multiple projects. Prior to this, Ian held significant positions at Rio Tinto, managing studies for major projects like Resolution Copper and Oyu Tolgoi, and gaining hands-on experience at Palabora Mining Company and Richards Bay Minerals. Ian holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering from Camborne School of Mines, a Business Program certificate from IMD, and a Stanford Lead Professional Certificate from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
