Jacques Nguz Tshisens

Jacques Nguz Tshisens, PE, PMP, currently serves as Manager of Underground Geotechnical Engineering and Chief Geomechanical Engineer at Freeport-McMoRan since February 2019, leading a team of geotechnical engineers and collaborating on mine planning for several underground operations in Indonesia. Previously, Jacques held the position of Principal Advisor for Geotechnical Engineering at Rio Tinto, providing corporate support and developing geotechnical policies for North American mines. Experience includes senior roles at Resolution Copper, focusing on mine design and geotechnical programs, and earlier positions at Newmont Mining Corporation and Call & Nicholas, where responsibilities spanned ground control management and geotechnical analysis. Jacques holds a Master's degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor's degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of Lubumbashi, alongside a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering Technologies from ISPT-Likasi.
