Brian King has a wide range of work experience, starting in 2003 as a Staff Archeologist at Hicks & Company. In this role, they authored numerous technical reports and supervised field crews for archeological projects. From 2007 to 2011, they worked as a GIS Specialist and Scientist at Espey Consultants, Inc., where they utilized AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ESRI ArcGIS to create engineering graphic exhibits. Brian also assisted with hydraulic and hydrology modeling for the stormwater group. Brian then joined Freese and Nichols, where they worked as a GIS Analyst and Archeologist from 2011 to 2017. Currently, they are an Assistant Instructor and Grader at Penn State University, starting in 2016.

Brian King, GISP, RPA, CFM has an extensive education history in the fields of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Anthropology, Archaeology, and Architecture. Brian obtained their Master Degree in Geographic Information Systems from Pennsylvania State University from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they studied Anthropology at The University of Texas at San Antonio from 1998 to 2000. Brian earned their Bachelor's degree in Archaeology from the University of Kentucky from 1993 to 1997, and they have an Associates degree in Architecture from Lexington Community College from 1990 to 1993.

In addition to their education, Brian has obtained several certifications. Brian is a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) which they obtained from The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) in September 2014. Brian is also a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) and received this certification from The Register of Professional Archaeologists in December 2013. Brian is a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) and obtained this certification from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) in 2011. Furthermore, they have a USGIF Professional Geospatial Intelligence Graduate Certificate obtained in 2013 from the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). Finally, they have an FAA License 107 Commercial Drone Remote Pilot, although the institution and year of obtaining this license are not provided.
