Katy Mayo has a diverse range of work experience. Katy started their career as an Assistant Retail Manager at JOANN Stores from August 2016 to August 2019. Katy then worked as an Academic Coach at Radford University from January 2021 to May 2021. Katy later joined Fairfax County Public Schools as a Warehouse Worker from December 2019 to August 2021. In 2021, they transitioned to being a Graduate Research Assistant at The George Washington University from August 2021 to March 2022. Katy also gained experience as an Intern at the Natural Hazard Mitigation Association (NHMA) from March 2022 to May 2023. Katy then became a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The George Washington University from August 2022 to May 2023. Currently, Katy holds the position of a Geographic Information System Analyst at Freese and Nichols, starting in May 2023.

Katy Mayo began their education journey in 2016 at Northern Virginia Community College, where they pursued a Certificate in General Education. Katy attended the college from 2016 to 2019. Following their time at Northern Virginia Community College, Katy enrolled at Radford University in 2019, where they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Geospatial Sciences. Their undergraduate studies lasted until 2021. Currently, Katy is furthering their education at The George Washington University, from 2021 to 2023, to pursue a Master's degree in Geography.
