Pedro Afonso Avvad

Pedro Afonso Avvad is a Senior Partner at Freitas, Leite e Avvad Advogados, leading the Tax Department and heading Corporate/M&A operations in Rio de Janeiro since April 2011. Avvad is also a member of the Comissão de Assuntos Legislativos da OAB/RJ since October 2021. Prior to this role, Avvad was a Founding Partner at Avvad, Osorio, Fernandes, Moreira Lima & Fabião Advogados, specializing in Tax and Corporate/M&A from September 1998 to April 2011. Academic contributions include positions as a Tax Law professor at UERJ (2004-2006) and FGV (2002-2003), and an invited professor at UERJ (2000-2003). Avvad served as Legal Counsel for the 17th World Petroleum Congress in 2002. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, a Master of Laws in Taxation from Universidade Candido Mendes, specialized training from the Sheltons International Tax Training Institute, and an Executive Education program at Harvard Business School.
