Holly Johnson has a strong background in nonprofit work, with a focus on community foundations and philanthropic organizations. Holly began their career in 2006 as the Co-Director of Development for the Greater Ottawa County United Way, where they successfully engaged key constituents and led countywide community campaigns. In 2007, they joined the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation as Vice President - Development, where they directed the Development Department and implemented a donor engagement strategy. Holly also took on the role of President in 2013 and held this position until 2018. Most recently, Holly Johnson has been the President of the Frey Foundation since 2018.
Holly Johnson pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hillsdale College, which they completed from 1986 to 1990. Later on, they attended Grand Valley State University from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Leadership.
