Jake Aguirre

Jake Aguirre is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research, focusing on the degradation of nuclear hormone receptors by ubiquitin ligase enzymes and the modulation of this process by steroids. Previously, Jake completed a PhD at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, where research centered on the activation mechanisms of the ubiquitin ligase enzyme parkin and its link to Parkinson’s disease mutations. Additional experience includes serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a Biochemistry course at Western University and engaging in undergraduate recruitment events. Jake holds an Honours Bachelor of Medical Science in Clinical Biochemistry from Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
